Lean Six Sigma meshes the two powerful approaches
of Lean and Six Sigma to reduce both waste and process variation.
This powerful combination is applied to factory processes and also
to the “front office” business processes to improve flow
by reducing errors, duplication, and waste.
DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control)
focuses on the improvement of internal metrics yielding fast returns.
Listening to the Voice of the Process (VOP) enables bottom-line improvement
via minimization of variation, defects, and Cost of Poor Quality.
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) focuses on the Design
of Products and Processes to provide Value to the Customer. The approach
is two-fold:
-
Identify the Right Offering using VOC techniques
-
Design the Offering Right using process
analysis, statistics, and engineering techniques.
Process
Design for Six Sigma
Process Design for Six Sigma emphasizes increasing
customer value by creating effective and efficient business and
service delivery processes. Business Processes are designed or redesigned
with customer value as the focal point.
Product
Design for Six Sigma
Product Design for Six Sigma emphasizes increasing
customer value by creating effective and efficient products: mechanical,
electromechanical, or chemical. Business to Business, as well as
Business to Consumer Products and Processes and associated technical
process are designed or redesigned with both external and internal
customer value as the focal point.
“The Future ain’t what it used
to be” –Yogi Berra
Today’s successful markets, customers, processes
and business models do not guarantee success tomorrow. Dimensions
of Value shift and create innovation opportunities. Not only must
companies focus on the VOC but they must recognize the Voice of Opportunity
that lies beyond. Innovation tackles the very front end of value creation:
identifying value creation opportunities, market spaces, and value
creation strategies. Innovate to create the value and follow-up with
a focus on the Voice of the Customer and the Voice of the Process
using the proven Six Sigma roadmap. Innovation for Six Sigma (IFSS)
enables the team to create offerings based on Market space inspiration
rather than customer dictation or business performance.
Marketing for Six Sigma (MFSS) focuses Business Development,
Finance, Marketing and Sales on jointly increasing value to create
customers. Marketing and sales specific tools are integrated into
the well proven Process Design methodology.
Supply Chain Excellence focuses on aligning the supply
chain or subset thereof to minimize waste and variation. The focus
can range from the Suppliers’ supplier to the Customers’
customer. The approach combines Six Sigma, Lean, and Process Design
with the SCOR model which is used to identify key improvement opportunities.
When appropriate, Supply Base Management techniques are integrated.
Progression
Do you have trained Black Belts that need to continue
their training? Perhaps your trained Six Sigma Black Belts need training
in Design for Six Sigma; or, maybe you already have Design for Six
Sigma Black Belts who need training in:
-Marketing tools to supplement their technical
training
-Innovation techniques to enhance their approach to new technology
-New market development
Uniworld offers the following progression tracks:
DMAIC to DFSS
DFSS to MFSS
DFSS to IFSS
